Union Members:
The Executive Board is asking for anyone who is interested in being an escort and performing honor guard duties for the three fallen firefighters we had in 2019 to contact VP Hanh Deniston ASAP. Two of the three volunteers elected last year can no longer attend the rescheduled event this year. (Yes, we're still dealing with COVID cancellations) So we need to elect two new members. These two members will, along with Brother John Day, escort the families of our fallen fire fighters.
Once we gather the names of candidates interested in attending, the Union's Executive Board will select the two candidates. The volunteers will be given a stipend of $1,000 to help offset the cost of travel. The representative will have to use their own leave to attend the event.
The IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial 2022 will commence on Thursday, September 15th - Saturday, September 17th. Please click on this link https://www.iaff.org/fffm22/ for more information. We strongly encourage members to go to the IAFF's website to get a sense of the commitment and responsibilities involved with being an escort for a family. Another great resource on this event is Brother John Day. John has attended countless IAFF Memorials and will spearhead the Local's efforts in Colorado Springs this year.
If interested, please contact VP Hanh Deniston by 1700, Tuesday, July 12th. The Executive Board will select two names from the list of interested members.
In solidarity,
Hanh Deniston
